12.15.09 - Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey is on a mission to kill cash. He likes money, just not actual cash transactions. Dorsey's new venture, Square, could help businesses--large and small--, and even consumers eliminate the need to carry cash. Square allows credit card payments to be processed directly from an iPhone or iPod Touch. That part alone isn't all that revolutionary. There are a number of iPhone apps that facilitate credit card payments, but they require manual input of the credit card number. What sets Square apart from those apps is that is provides users with a small--well....square--gadget that can read the magnetic stripe information from credit cards.

It adds an additional 1200mAH of battery power to your iPhone, effectively doubling its life. For an extra $20, the standard Juice Pack provides an additional 1800mAH.

7.27.09 - iLuv recently quickly followed Belkin by providing official details of its own remote adapter for the newer iPod shuffle. Already teased, the IEA15 gives any minijack earbud or headphone set the same controls as Apple's remote, both for click actions and for volume. The add-on is also confirmed to add full remote control to any other 2008 iPod as well as the iPhone 3GS. Again like Belkin, iLuv uses an Apple-made chip in the IEA15 that guarantees compatibility.
